And so the final results for the annual Fav anime Character at anime-source.com are out. And what can I say? The results are going pretty much just as planned, or at least they were unsurprising.
Even if you are not that much a fan of Code Geass, I’m sure you cannot deny that Lelouch getting the throne seat is pretty much expected. Haruhi having to settle for the second seating, while sad, is inevitable, but still showed that Haruhi-ism is as strong as ever.

1. Suzumiya Haruhi
Eccentricities of an individual merely reflect upon the mundane of the majority. If anyone can truly underline the essence of that quote, it would definitely Suzumiya Haruhi. Clearly, Haruhi has taken eccentricity to a whole new level. However, what really made her such a memorable and lovable character is her attitude: the way she leads her desired “not boring” lifestyles, not letting others’ opinion affect her choices (though in actual fact, she practically ignores them but that’s beside the point). True, lots of characters before Haruhi have done the stuff about living a unique life, but the way Haruhi does it is just so different, so unique and eccentric –refreshing outlook on the ever-popular concept of the philosophy of life. To be able to flesh out a character to be bossy (tyrant) without being annoying certainly isn’t easy; but they’ve done it. Considering the current fanbase, I don’t think I actually need to vote for her. I mean, how many anime characters actually have their own cult (read: Haruhi-ism)!? BUT I’ll still vote for her anyway, simply because she really is my favourite character of all time.
tl;dr = All Hail Haruhi-hime-sama ! 😀
Nagi was unexpectedly added to my list. Despite being from a new series in which only 3 episodes are out, the hilarity and uniqueness of her character has already caught my attention. From her (bad) puns to her over-zealous obsession with the mahou-shoujo henshin sequence, to her little trick here and there such as feigning split personality and her polite-speech… … almost every gag she pulled made me cracked up and roar with laughter. Indeed, I must say that this popularity contest arrives at a really appropriate time! In short, I just had to vote for this mischievous, crazy but also lovable shrine Goddess. And of course, not to forget Nagi’s little concert in the Opening Theme.
3. Izumi Konata
Konata: hardcore gamer and otaku, the character that made Lucky Star, a simple slice of life series, so entertaining. What more can I say about her other than the fact that she is the absolute epitome of her archetype?
4. Lelouch vi Brittania
Complex personality, backed by dramatic speeches and hand gestures makes him such a memorable character. Lawful Evil or Chaotic Good? Doesn’t matter; either way, he’s still a great character, which made Code Geass such an enjoyable series.
