Fans living in Singapore have something to look forward to. For the first time, there’s actually going to be an anime convention here!
It means that anime has finally gained proper recognition here, it seems. On the other hand, it’ll take years (and several more conventions) to get things to be on track. For one thing, while I wasn’t exactly disappointed by the event, I must admit that I wasn’t exactly impressed by it.
Anyway, I just came back from the event. Paid S$68.00 for the VIP Pass for the May’n LIVE Concert. So yes, the event I’m looking forward to is the concert tomorrow night. (YEAH !!!) And so, despite having arrived 1 hr earlier (the convention opens at 10am), I still had to queue for about an 1hr.
Let’s face it: it’s more a Gundam Fest than an actual anime fest. The available anime titles and varieties were rather small, and about half of the merchandise are Gundams. So, GundamFags: Rejoice! For here you’ll see galleries and galleries of Gundams on display (some of which are limited edition).
The booths for RapidCulture and La Tendo were quite disappointing though. True, there was a massive discount going on (for reference, Maido Fuku Rider cost $50 instead of the usual $60) but once again, the variety was rather lacking.
Okay, so there’s Taiga (ToraDora) and Shana (Shakugan no Shana) but no Nagi (Hayate no Gotoku) to complete the Rie combo !? ( ﾟДﾟ) !!!
That’s it for now.
Will be posting more later (and tomorrow — with much much more pics of course). I will also be editing and updating this post.
