I thought I’ll post about some of the series that I’m currently following, as well as my impressions of them. So here goes, in no order of preference! Here’s just some of them; I’ll post the others some other day.

ToraDora!
Kannagi
Vampire Knight Guilty

Toradora!
If you’ve never heard of this series, you’re not fit to be called an otaku! After all, this is the series which Japan is currently making a big fuss over. As seen in Xeno’s article, Taiga’s face is practically everywhere! Of course, this is not surprising. Toradora is an enjoyable show. And the casting – just that alone is enough to explain all that big fandom about it. Horie Yui, Rie Kugumiya: just these voice actors are enough to send fans into hysteria. And into the series, those who have read the novel will certainly have expected Rie to take on the role of Taiga, thus adding another character to the renowned Loli-Tsundere Combo. For me however, the star of this series is Minorin. Aside the fact that she’s voiced by Horie Yui, I simple likes Minorin’s personality. True, the genki archetype has been done before by many other characters in many other series, but there’s something about Kushieda Minori that sets her apart (Her being a massive referencebot being, but not limited to, one of the many reasons).

Conclusion: Highly recommended, a rating of 9/10

Kannagi
This series is surprise number one for me. I never expected this series to be so enjoyable. For one thing, when you compare it against, for example, Toradora, the advertising for Kannagi is practically negligible. However, the hilarity (and enjoyment) level is in no way lower than ToraDora’s. The punch lines, the puns, the references – evidences of great scripting – were really well done. The Lucky Star of year 2008? Well, we’ll see but I got to say that I’m not surprised if it turns out to be so.
Episodes watched: 10
Conclusion: Highly recommended, a rating of 9/10

Vampire Knight: Guilty
Sure, the manga is more detailed, but frankly, the anime has its own merits too. Besides, there’s a pending Vampire Siblings Incest going on as a bonus, be it anime or manga. Some mild drawbacks would be I wished they’ll cut down the humor in Guilty. The comedy scenes ruined the ambience because Season 2 was already getting into the plot and being serious and stuff. Also, the fight scenes were pathetic, particularly the animation for them. The plot progress is pretty good and I must say that the BGMs chosen were really very suited. I like how the overal Gothic ambiance is being created along with the music and art style. Nevertheless, I like this series as whole.
Episodes watched: 10
Conclusion: worth the watch, a rating of 8/10
