Ah Touhou, possibly one of the few titles where the SFW doujins are actually in higher demand, which makes sense considering the nature of the verse. Anyway, touhou needs no introduction so let’s cut the chatter: there are easily thousands of doujins floating out there on the internet. Even if one is to download Gaku’s entire batch torrent*, it’ll still be quite a feat to go through them. So hopefully, this little post can help in highlighting several of the more interesting ones as a starting point.
Happy new year! Just in time to enjoy the releases from Comiket 81. And so, to initiate the first post of the year 2012, a short review on Kengeki Musou, a doujin game made by the circle Annkake-Spa. Continue reading
Recently got around to playing Recettear. Overall, it certainly was an enjoyable game and I don’t think this game needs much introduction. Or rather, for those unacquainted and are interested, here’s the link to TvTropes.
A quick browse through blogs and forums also showed favourable comments towards the game. So instead of echoing the same praises, I’ll instead comment on what I think are the flaws and how it could have been improved. Continue reading
Unlimited Blade Works, Fate/Zero, Fate/Extra and Carnival Phantasm (also Kara no Kyoukai which was not too long ago). Looks like this year is the year of TYPE-Moon, making this an appropriate time to bring back a rather old doujin game. For those who don’t already know, Battle Moon Wars is a tactical RPG done in the style of the Super Robot Wars franchise and is entertaining in how it brings in all the characters from various TYPE-Moon works and dump them all together. So we have another Grail War intersecting with the various plot points of the other titles.
In general, the posts aren’t exactly strategy guides; the main purpose is more of to show off the interesting cut scenes in the game, but I thought it would be too plain to just dump videos. Anyway, I’m basically just going to be putting more details and attention on Acts 3 and 4, as that is when things get really interesting. Acts 1 and 2 were well, not as intense, not facing off against powerful foes that often. Continue reading
Back from an almost 1 month hiatus!
So, C78 ended recently. Naturally, I’ve been downloading lots of doujin music and have only started going through (read:few) some of them. One that caught my attention so far is Violin Duo by Zephyr Cradle feat. TAM. One of the tracks is none other than a violin version of the Angel Beats OP, My Soul, Your Beats!. Gotto say, did a bit of a double take while listening to the album and heard the familiar tune. Pretty decent album, on the overall; simple, relaxing violin pieces.
Another Digression Post…
Yet another post quite unrelated to anime…well then again, I’m only following a few series currently namely, Bakemonogatari, Spice & Wolf II. Anyway, I’ve been playing Touhoumon while listen to some of the C76 Touhou Albums. While still “patiently” waiting for GSC’s Saber Lily Avalon figurine which has conveniently been delayed again it seems.
According to Touhoumon ~Gensokyo~: Long time ago, Patchouli Knowledge grew tired of Marisa Kirisame coming and stealing her books. Therefore, she made some puppets with decent intelligence and power to keep the library safe. (She doesn’t believe in Hong Meiling at all) Unfortunately, one of the manuals has been stolen by Marisa and the thief herself made a lot of puppet for pilfering. When they came, Patchouli impatiently blew both armies of puppet and a part of the library away, included the remaining manuals. After the incident, puppets have been producing with a large amount and people got used to them. Time passes and they are now served like pets to everyone.
If your reaction to the above story is “What’s with that ridiculous storyline!?” , then obviously you’ve never played the actual Touhou Project. Or being part of the Touhou fandom.
