Aquarion Evol – 09

Decided to start to marathon this series since it has just ended. Somewhat cheesy, though fun to watch. Up to episode 9 so far:

– So basically, the Aquarion is the ultimate cockblock machine

– And it’s fuelled by the repressed sexual frustration of the teenage pilots

– Innuendo, oh damn, all the freaking innuendo everywhere.

[Sora o Kakeru no Shoujo] 運命の戦い!

lotr

Lord of the Rings! That was definitely a reference to TLOTR Part1 Fellowship of the Ring!

“Nice to see them referencing something else other than Star Wars” was what I wanted to say but…(see p.s. at the end of post — though I think you get what I’m driving at). Oh well, at least they did make a tribute to TLOTR. For that I am happy. Continue reading

[RideBack] Ep2 : lol Ballet H4X

Successfully attacking the corner and drifting at high speed, while riding a mecha-motorbike hybrid, pulled off elegantly with awesome ballet? They really know how to put together seemingly implausible combos and making them actually click.

Now we just need some Initial D crossover or reference or
… you get what I mean.

Damn, I love anime.

Ballet and mecha in my anime? It’s more likely than you think!

[Sora Kake Shōjo] Spin, Leopard!

I guess this one of those shows where you have to switch off your brain to enjoy. And yeah, nonsensical fun. This series reminds me of Mai-Otome/Hime. Somehow.
宇宙をかける少女 - Ep2Oh well, Sunrise. No surprise there. This series is as Sunrise as Sunrise can get, with their trademark right to the end. Had fun watching this one, though.

[RideBack] Ep 01: of Mecha, Motorbike and Ballet

After hearing nothing but good reviews on the first episode, I knew I had to give this series a try as well. The result: yeah, I’ll have to say that it wasn’t outstanding, but well, it’s only the first episode – and it really was pretty good for a first ep. The concept to Ride Back is not exactly original, but it is not really cliché either, so even if it doesn’t turn out to be anything unique, I can at least hope that it will not end up to be anything generic.

[In-depth Review] Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

Rating: 9/10
Code Geass, the dark horse of the productions of year 2006, a series in which I initially didn’t intend to watch, as I was expecting it to be just another mecha produced by Sunrise to accommodate the fact that there was no Gundam for that year. Even the first episode had that trademark protagonist stumbled into scene while enemy was stealing weapons storyline. Thankfully, it turned out that I was gravely mistaken. Code Geass turned out to more than just a mecha series.
